RightFax: Faxes Stuck in “Waiting to be Sent” Status (Fix for DocTransport Without Boards)

RightFax: Faxes Remain in “Waiting to be Sent” State Indefinitely

Issue
In some environments running RightFax 10.5 or later, a large percentage of outbound faxes may remain stuck in a "Waiting to be sent" state indefinitely.

Root Cause
This behavior typically occurs when a DocTransport service is running on a server without a configured fax board. When no transport is available, the DocTransport continues to pull messages from the MSMQ faxserver_sendfax queue and re-queues them in an endless loop, preventing the faxes from being processed.

Resolution

  1. Install RightFax 10.5 FP1 or later.

  2. Open the Registry Editor (Start > Run > regedit).

  3. Navigate to the appropriate key depending on your OS:

    • 64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\RightFax\DocTransport

    • 32-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RightFax\DocTransport

  4. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value named DontTryToSend.

  5. Set its value to 1.

  6. Close the Registry Editor and restart the DocTransport service.

Important: This registry key must be added on any DocTransport server that does not have a configured transport (fax board).

Post-Change Behavior
After making this change, faxes may still appear in the "Waiting to be sent" state for a few minutes (depending on server load). To manually refresh their status, highlight the affected faxes and press CTRL+K.
